Forest School

Our forest school sessions continued this week looking at forest art.

Forest School

The children enjoyed taking part in forest school this afternoon with Mr Forest.

Our Trip to Paignton Zoo

To help understand which animals live in the rainforest and what their habitats are like, we visited Paignton Zoo. You can look through some of our photos below!

Somerset Gardens Trust Grant

We are pleased to announce that the school has won a grant from the Somerset Gardens Trust. This will provide us with planters to use around the school and in our class garden area; a water butt to keep watering from throughout the year and a propagator to help look after the seedlings, so that there are no repeats of the slug incident with our spinach and kale!

A Special Visitor...

On Tuesday (17th December), we had a festive day in Wren Class filled with making Christmas trees, Christmas cards, a Christmas lunch and a visit from a special visitor...

Food Tasting

We have had a week looking at seasonal foods in DT. We have received a letter from a restaurant asking us to design a seasonal tart. The children enjoyed tasting a range of vegetables (potatoes, carrots, turnips, parsnips, cabbage, kale and sprouts) which they can put onto their tart.

Leaf Mulching and Leaf Moulding

Today, we have been summarising our learning about the Romans and in the afternoon, we went leaf collecting and shredding to make our own leaf mould and leaf mulch. We then finished testing each others animations that we have coded.

Roman Roads

The children have enjoyed learning about Roman roads.

The children answered some questions and demonstrated their understanding through building roads in a cup.

Roman Archaeology

The children have been looking at how archaeologists find out about the past by exploring Pompeii as well as doing their own archaeological work sieving through soil 'from a Roman site' to find Roman artefacts.

They will continue this tomorrow to identify what coins have been found.

Planting cyclamens

We have finally been able to get out and plant our cyclamens today. We are growing them to see whether the roots will grow as the plant grows.
