Curriculum
We have to follow the National Curriculum for years 3/4.
The National Curriculum for English includes English writing, reading, handwriting and spelling objectives and can be viewed below. To support the children achieve these objectives, we teach English writing lessons, read and discuss our class story (everyday), handwriting lessons (usually 3 times a week), guided reading lessons (usually 3 times a week) and spelling (1 lesson and 1 test).
The National Curriculum for maths focuses on: number and place value, addition and subtraction, multiplication and division, fractions (including decimals), measurement, geometry (position and direction - including coordinates), properties of shapes and statistics. You can view the relevant year 3 and 4 pages below.
The National Curriculum for science has been aligned to cover the year 3 knowledge objectives and the year 4 knowledge objectives over the 2 years the children are in Wren Class. The children will study the plants objectives in depth over the 2 years to make use of our garden area.
