School Lunches

Children can either have a school-provided lunch or bring a packed lunch from home.

School lunches are ordered online in advance through ParentPay. When your child starts at Oake, Bradford and Nynehead, you will be given login details so that you can view the menu and order meals.

We will let parents and carers know when new menus are available and send reminders before ordering deadlines.

Free School Meals

All children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal under the Universal Infant Free School Meals scheme.

Some children in other year groups may also be entitled to free school meals. From the 2026–27 academic year, this includes children from households receiving Universal Credit, as well as some families receiving other qualifying support.

Even if your child is already receiving a free meal because they are in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2, we strongly encourage families who think they may qualify for benefits-based free school meals to apply. This can help the school receive additional funding to support your child’s education.

Applications are made through Somerset Council’s Free School Meals service. If you are unsure whether you qualify, please speak to the school office and we will be happy to help.

School Milk

We use Cool Milk for children who would like milk during the school day.

Children under the age of five are entitled to free school milk once registered.

When children turn five, parents can choose to continue receiving milk at a subsidised cost by registering and paying through Cool Milk. Children who receive benefits-based free school meals may also be entitled to free milk after the age of five; please speak to the school office for further information.
